Amazon Launches Kindle 2 [pcworld.com]
Amazon launched its second-generation e-book reader, as expected. The rumor mill hit fever pitch in the past few days, with leaked images and basic details purporting to be the Kindle 2 surfacing. Turns out the leaked info was indeed spot-on. The images correctly reflected the new Kindle's notably more svelte and contoured industrial design.

Kindle 2 is priced at $359 and Amazon is taking orders today. Units are scheduled to ship February 24. Current Kindle that order by February 10 will jump to the front of line to receive the Kindle 2.

Looks like we have two hot products in this market.

Intrigued...another gadget out there... And I do love etext these days as opposed to traditional print books (can't scale fonts for my aging eyes). Yet myself (and probably many others) wonder if a single purpose device such as Kindle at $359 beats an eee netbook at $200.
