Worth the extra cheddar?

So I found out yesterday that my T-mo sidekick II that I love gets no love in my new location. Highly recommended for the bang for the buck for anyone who can get the service by the way.

I picked up a verizon phone for the time being, but am considering plunking down the extra moolah for the XV6600.

Looks pretty sweet, but I'm tryin' to figure out just how much it's gonna cost me all together, and if it's really necessary/ worth the extra cost. I'd really like to have somethin' nice for e-mail when travelling, and don't mind payin' up front a bit, but don't want to get hit with HUGE bills for service etc.

Anyhow, I don't know all that much about PDA's, and tryin' to get the scoop here.

Anyone know if I can get an SDIO wifi card and pickup wifi networks anywhere? I know they are working on their own Verizon broadband wifi network, but guessin' it's gonna cost more than the occassional wardrive.

Any insights are appreciated.

Verizon has been catching flak for disabling features on some high end phones to force consumers to buy the equivalent feature through Verizon. Make sure the features of the phone you want are supported by Verizon at no charge.

Don't go by what the phone ad says - check with Verizon.
