I have a laptop/tablet running windows xp tablet edition. I use this for much of my field work. Infact I'd be lost without it.

I have a server in the office running windows 2000 advanced server. This server is used for file and print sharing.

Here is the question. Many of the files I have on my laptop are duplicate files that are on the server, for example spreadhseets with customer data. I would like to be able to plug my laptop into the network back at the office and instantly/automatically files are transferred from server to laptop and from laptop to server based on last edit date. How can I accomplish this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I've been using a free tool called (Karen's) Replicator for about a year, and it's the simplest way I've found to keep things in sync on my laptop. However, if you have a Win2K server then I'd think there would be some system synchronization tools you could use as well.

Seems like a great program. Does it check to see which version is newer? If more than one person access and changes the file who wins?

Mike I was thinking the exact same thing. I haven't tested the program because a good point was brought up. Advanced server might have something already built into it, so I have begin my search but found nothing to this point. The search continues.
