So, I've been wondering for a while, "designing for mobile" isn't as simple as just writing correct CSS and hoping it will work.

And all my research just led to more questions...

What I can expect to be the "major" browser? From what I've google'd I've found that HP and Palm are two heavy-weight sellers, but I've been fairly hard-pressed to find an "IE6" of the mobile world - just what is the most commonly used browser/s?

Is it safe to assume that since the CSS is so basic, it -should- display on any mobile browser?

What's "OpenWave"?

Should a different doctype be used?

What about emulators? Are they reliable? Where could I find them?

Cheers, I know there are a lot of questions :)
