Image download on mobile devices.

...seems to be more complicated than .jpg link.

Hi,

I have my site running OK, but I am having a puzzling problem.

On desktop-like XHTML clients, having the user click a link to a .jpg (or .gif) file is sufficient to "download" it to the handheld, so it can be set as handset wallpaper, etc.

On pure mobile browsers this doesn't seem to work at all. The click/link is sort of ignored.

What am I doing wrong?

It works for me DamonHD :). I checked your site with my symbian phone, when I click (with the joystick, or go options/open) it opens a page with small/medium/full versions. Another click opens the picture. Then I can press options and set as wallpaper.

Hi,

OK, kewl; maybe that bit is just broken in the emulators that I was testing with!

Can you tell be your make/model?

PS. Were you looking at the .org or .mobi site version, ie the HMTL or XHTML site?

I was looking at the .mobi domain, (smlpx), with a Nokia 3250

Hi,

Thanks!

I ask because I'm in the process of upgrading the HTML site mirrors to work the same way as the XHTML as it is better IMHO... What it is to see your site though new (smaller, squished) eyes!

(Please could you edit my full domain name out of your post, since we are not allowed to (even indirectly) self-promote else WW will become a SPAMmer honeypot!)

I am sorry for that, I can't edit anymore for the editing age has ended :/
It is surely difficult to make a standard solution for a website with the great variety of mobile phones...

Anyway, good luck for the further development of your site :)

Hi Igor,

Thanks for the good wishes!

I'm hoping under .mobi it might just be possible to get enough standardisation for things to work relatively uniformly. Hey, it works for your Nokia and my Nokia, so it must be perfect, yes? B^>
