Decent PDA

I am looking to upgrade my pda. Looking to spend between 200-250. I don't need internet access.

Consider:

Hp, Viewsonic and Sony, but not sold an any model yet.

Any ideas?

My current favourite is the Tungsten C, but this is mainly to do with the built in Wi-Fi ability. It is built on a Palm platform and is stable and kind of funky looking. However, I recently showed it to my father, who is looking at picking up his first PDA, and he found the interface difficult to get his head round because it wasn't the windows system he was used to. He has ended up with the Dell Pocket PC running windows and loves it. I guess this sort of decission needs to be at least partly based on what you're used to. What does your everyday system (ie Desk or laptop) run on? Windows, Mac or Linux.

Speaking of Linux, I've just moved over to Suse on my desktop and am looking at wiping the Tungsten and installing a small footprint linux OS on the it, so I guess some thought of what to buy should be given over to future proofing.

I currently use the i705, its pretty good, but black and white. Once my service contract is over, I will probably be upgrading to either one of the Dell Axiums (which have been getting some sweet reviews), or the upcoming IBM PDA's, which would also be based on the upcoming Windows CE.

It is really what you need the PDA for. If it is just for notes, address book, and that type of stuff, then you should be able to get a nice on for under 150 in the states. But, if you want to have thw wireless Internet, then your choices are i705 for about $99.00 in the states, a Tungsten, iPaq, or DELL.

Anyone ever use/ have an Audiovox pda? Seems to be the same kind as a toshiba but considerably less money

I've been pretty happy with my Sony Clie. The higher res color screen is nice, although not all apps take advantage of it.

I love my dell Aixum. It has a SD card slot and a CF card slot. The only thing I don't like is the arrow button. The Compaq has a better one. It makes Tetris hard.

go Clie TG50! it's a wonderfull tool, I use mine with a 128 mb memory stick, I use it for work (I am a press photographer) I use it told hold my job details directions maps if my printed ones don't cover the requiered area, I use the mp3 player to keep me saine while on steakouts and I the fact that I can send and recieve emails attachments means I have a handy backup to my laptop to wire my pictures (as long as I have time to put them on the memory stick before the laptop battery dies as sadly the TG50 doesn't have a CF slot, pretty much the only design flaw) so I say Yay go for the TG50 it's thinner than most of the competition and looks cool too.
