The Carphone Warehouse today launches mapAmobile, a service that locates mobile phones to give parents details of their child’s whereabouts at their request, within seconds and without bothering the child. With mobile phone usage reaching epic proportions, especially amongst teenagers, the service is sure to be welcomed by parents.

With a turnover of £2 Billion (UK) though, Carphone Warehouse have got some serious clout with which to push this particular version of the idea.
I notice the Sun newspaper were reporting the system as a novel way to check up on your wife/husband/partner to make sure they are where they claim to be - takes all sorts!

Yes it can very easily be abused if you ever have access to the persons mobile, you only need to have it for 30 seconds and your go, you can use encryption to stop it, a bit expensive though.
I would imagine that you could call up carphonewarehouse, and say that you never wont to allow anyone to track your phone, that way you should be secure from them anyway (then you have the other 50 companies which track you everyday anyway ;) )
