Wireless Network and cordless phones

I recently set up a wireless newtork and love it, my first attempt at networking. That is until I had to talk on a cordless phone and use the Internet. The phone and router use 2.4 frequency. The phone all but disables the connection to the Internet. Is there anyway to stop this from happening?

I have a Netgear MA401 access card.

802.11a uses different frequencies than cordless phones. I'm sure you didn't want to hear that after sinking a chunk of money into 802.11b.

Might also try swapping your cordless phone for a spread-spectrum one. They're more secure and reliable too.

you could try a 900MHz phone - cheap like dirt these days - you can prolly find one for $40 or so now. Unless you're planning to walk around the block while you're on the phone a 900MHz should work just fine for you :)

Yep...that happens sometimes. I've got a 2.4 phone and 802.11b and don't have a single problem, but it does happen.

Sometimes moving phone or the wifi base station around helps. Play with their placement for a while and you should find a place where they both work.
