Hello, New Poster Introduction

I am new to this forum But not to wireless applications.
I started playing with wireless in 1999.
At the time every one was debating on the future of wireless and its/our place within the industry. Wap was argued to death, But Wap is a name for a protocal NOT a Language. WML might be history but WAP imho is not.
I have developed wml sites for 3 years and they are not advertised and never have been except for 1 list. The one foot fetish site had 3000 visits, this is remarkable and says alot to me that people do and will look at sites on these devices. But how to market our services and sites to these people is the BIG Question imo.
Now, there are payment gateways and credit systems that are in place, a big market of consumers looking for a place to call home and gather the daily needs that these devices are able to provide when away from the pc. But HOW do we find these people and how do we get them loyal to our portals of info and services?
How will we design our services and sites to be capable of being veiwed in ALL browsers? WML NO, HTML NO, I think and so does W3C that the answer is XHTML. We need to learn XML and a scripting language JAVA,ASP,PHP etc. This is how to gather an audience of loyal surfers, is to stay ahead of what the competition be deliver, and provide FAST ACCURATE SERVICE and INFORMATION. Google became popular because of its no nonsence scaled down version of a SE that delivered results FAST and as Accurate as they could possibly get.
The surfer did and does want that. We need to look at our developing for this market in the same manner.
Any how sorry for the ramble I just LOVE this subject and My Place within this industry about to EXPLODE!

It's great to have people who are really enthusiastic about the possiblities here on board.
The general consensus seemed to be that after an initial period of high hopes this whole sector somehow seemed to vanish from web people's attention.
With the sudden spreading of public WiFi a new interest might be sparkled.

Yes it seems that the enthusiasism has stopped with the wireless devices.
Or is it that the future is here NOW, and everyone is keeping quite to have their place in it?
I really don't know, but it has seemed that people have just vanished, most boards are empty with no responses since early 2002.
I was very much into this around 1999 and 2000 and there was always talk about it, Now nothing. Maybe I just am not going to the right places?
I have been very Excited about WIFI and have frequented lots af sites devoted to this tech, and am about to set up my own Hot Spot here in my area. Which will give me control of start page advertising and generate some income, selling on demand services. But there is a much bigger picture imo.
The problem as I see it as it always has been with me and the others apparently is we are To Far Ahead, Visionaries and pioneers get frustrated and go on to something else that generates Now Income in order to pay the bills.
Well we need to get paid BUT relize what is happening with our visions and still build that foundation, the future is here and the ones that have that foundation in place will get the market share.
I mentioned XML in my previous post and how it fits in with the scheme of things. Its very important to have a grasp on this language, this is/will be what keeps us Ahead of Competitors with our services and how they are delivered.
