Mobile desk for laptop

[Hopeless]

I need a car mount for my laptop. I drive rental cars, and switch cars about every 2 months. So, I don't want to do any drilling. Also, I'll want to be able to easily remove the computer at night. If there's a product that locks the computer in place, that'd be great. Theft prevention is an issue, since I'd be out of the car frequently during the day.

Any suggestions from those with experience would be helpful!

Be very careful while driving and computing. It is very easy to let your eyes get locked on the screen while driving, only to look up and see a ditch approaching fast. It is incredibly dangerous.

I think that what he means is a desk for when he is parked. Lots of people work out of their car.

Thanks for your concern, Dazz. I'll have a gps unit attached to the laptop, and it will be talking to me, but I will have the laptop closed so it won't distract me. I think that having it talk to me will be much less distracting than constantly looking for street signs. Any other interaction with the computer will be done before I start driving, or while I'm pulled over.

Trust me: when you have a computer in your car powered up and active, the lure is seductive. You'll be reaching for that keyboard before you even realize you've done it. I finally had to just leave it in the case and only use it later when I'd stopped.

These computers are too addictive....ive just got in from work where I work on a PC all day....fed the cats and im sat here in my work clothes on here!

I worked for a (now defunct) contractor who installed these in police cars - they were fully positional, had lockable covers and were made of steel - wish I knew who made them!
