I am not complaining but why would Googlebot keep visiting my site? It surfs sometimes twice in one day, and sometimes once every 3 days? Hopefully, I am doing something right with my website but why would it keep visiting so often? I only have my front page enabled for the spiders to crawl and the page has 2/10 ranking and is in the top 10 for some keyword searches. It is only a very basic homemade webpage.
Thanks,
Paul
No, there are only 2 sites that link to me (the highest with a page Rank of 4) and I link out to about 10 sites (some of which I have only just added). Basically, my site is still in its infancy and I know that I have a lot more developing to do.
What I don't want to do is change something whilst I am developing and then loose the interest that Google has. How often would a search engine crawl a site, and why would it come back so often?
Thanks,
Paul
Google seem to try and emulate the way people think. If your local news store only changes its magazines once a month then not much point in visiting once a week looking for updates. However if it changes content daily and your job is to keep track of what they have then you will need to visit daily. My own tests dont seem to indicate that changing content helps or hinders page rank. Google just comes for a look more often. Presumably based on some algorithm around change history.
As always your mileage may vary.
