Can I host completely different keywords?

Howdy,

If I have a domain with a generic name (no keywords), can I host several different sites with different keywords? I know it's not optimum, but I want to utilize some of the space I have.

Thanks,

Dave

Anybody?

How does Google look upon having a single domain name with several keyworkd subdomains?

Thanks

I haven't tried it, but I believe google (currently) will treat the different subdomains as different sites, you should therefore beable to promote different themes on different subdomains...

added:

try searching google for:

subdomains site:www.webmasterworld.com

there's quite a few threads on the subject

mcavill, thanks for your input.

Just wanted to be sure before I put some new stuff up. I have soooo much room!

Just because you have the room it does not mean that you have to use it. You could spend heaps of time creating subdomains and filling them with content (unique i hope) but you will have to promote them all separate entities. Which is lot of work. Why not create one uber site that covers it all the you only have to promote one site. People are more likely to link to big site with loads of content than one of many tiny sites.

Just something to think about.

Thanks ukgimp.

I'm not doing it just to fill up space, but I have a concept with a lot of fresh ideas. My only worry was buying a domain with a keyword name, and then transferring the site later. I didn't want to get into any trouble with duplicate content, etc.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Goober

Yeah it's OK with G. I have one main site that also has a few subdomains running different topics, basically old clients I can't get to move, kinda sub-domain squatters ;)

However, haven't bothered to check for other SE's. Anyone any comments?
