what im having a problem with is webcam's! a client has requested that he would webcam link added to his site, not a probelm there!
But where im coming unstuck is my client has requested a camera that films to either a 180 to 360 degree angle! so that the area filmed is shown in its entirity!
first of all is this possible to do? and are there any camera's on market that do this?
What your client was IS possible. There are plenty of examples out there - atomfilms.com ran a film which was filmed in 360 degrees - so the viewer could control where they wanted to look. Big Brother UK 3 had a 360 degree camera put into the middle of their dinner table so you could look at them all while they were eating.
Google for "panoramic camera" and "360 camera" for some companies that make such cameras. Be warned, they aren't cheap (as you might expect).
If you want to stream live, you'll also need to use some special streaming software which supports 360 degree views. I believe Real.com have solutions for this.

Software is another issue. that company I think has their own. But it's not that had, I wrote my own once, all you need is to map the resulting image on the inside of a sphere and place the virtual camera at the center. then take a snap shot at the angle the visitorrequested. So on th ewebsite the visitor getsa standard non-distorted image, but can use arrows to navigate and "swivel" the camera.
Sicne all angles are recorded simultaneously, every visitor can look in a different independent direction.
