Geometric Tile

Hi all I'm new here & am planning my website (so go easy on me!)

I do geometric cut tile which is basically like a large scale mosaic using geometric shapes and has a Victorian or turn of the century design. I want to add some of my designs to a website along with the installation side of the business.

I have 10 stock colors. For each design, there may be 2 to 6 areas where a different color could be selected depending on the tile pattern/medallion. Therefore a ton of color selections which would be a lot of pictures! How should I set this up in my product catalog page?

So far I've come up with 2 ideas:
1) use drop down menu's to pick 1 of the 10 colors for each area. Then for each area of the pattern they go through the drop down menu picking there color selection. Problem with this is it doesn't generate a picture showing the selection they've created. But it will work with MIVA merchant that I have on my webhost.

2) Use a Flash program to mouse over the pattern and they click the area of the tile pattern where they want to change color. could I create a file of the colors then of the areas and then what? How do I get the colors the customer selected using the flash routine and save it so I could know what they wanted? How could I create a template for each tile pattern or medallion to add on to my site?

I'm sorry for the long post, Thanks in advance for your help! Colleen

Hi Colleen, welcome to WebmasterWorld!

I think the dropdown idea is good but like you say, you don't get to show the color with it. How about a pop up window to select colors and patterns that targets the main page?
