What Website(s) -in your opinions - has had the Greatest Impact either on you as a professinal

- Or -

on the Web/Internet as a whole

for example...

taking it to new directions, perspectives, dimensions, innovations, aesthetics etc..

The impact could have been Historical or Immediate

======================================================
( please allow links on this post - because of the impact and significance it could have around the world )

my aesthetics begin at home - i ain't got any decent vision / outlook to my home and the clash of color and theme, does my head in and turns many a decent person insane.

However i build my websites' out of my office in my home so that in a sense must reflect my home.

Not particular interested in bold statements, more interested in the subtle simple things in life that dont scream but invite people out of their own will.

Outside of the four standard dimensions of space and time, yes branes do possibly exist, which obviously they are trying to build a particle accelartor at CERN in Geneva, to access that our universe and all we know is in a particular brane, though there are n. amount of branes existing ( potentially x. dimensions existing) - Can't really comment on this one at the moment until the CERN project is up and running, and Planck's constant is a regulational law of cosmological physic's.

Histories - are a bit misleading, sure i can bore my self with physical histories which draw back to the brane (alternate physical apparatus), but i would be more inclined to think that since the WWW has been around since Bernard-Lee's, then immediate may be the way to think in relative historical terms.

>>>on the Web/Internet as a whole

hotmail.com

because it opened up webmail to all, email imo is the greatest most widely taken up new communications tool of recent times, i believe it has been life changing in many ways. (not earth shattering - but life changing none the less)

Google - Helps me find stuff
Dict.org - Helps me say stuff
eBay - Helps me buy stuff
WW - Helps me create stuff
W3C - Helps me know stuff
DevShed / DevGuru - Helps me script stuff
Mozilla.org - Helps me browse stuff

Whoever said there is no help for the dumb was obviously mistaken, as I'm a case in point. ;)

The Mosaic site. [archive.ncsa.uiuc.edu...]

Because without Mosaic to open a door on a whole new world for information junkies worldwide, we would all be searching for our career path outside of virtual space...when I first used Mosaic in '93 it opened my eyes and changed my life.

Numerous websites, but when I think about it, I found them all through one search engine, Google.
