Sitemap Update Bot?

Hi,

A 'does this exist' question..

I'm looking for a search bot or some kind of alert system that will send me an email when a particular page on a website has been updated.
For example - one air travel site has this page which is where they announce when the new flights will be released - I'd love to set up a marker for that page so I don't have to log in every day. This is just one example - I'm thinking of a bigger project, not just this one site!

I suppose I'm looking for the equivalent of people typing 'F' under a Facebook post!

Thanks for listening!

Hi Chewlip and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

You might find that some sites that frequently update information offer RSS feeds. That was the most popular way to keep up with New! information but most browsers don't offer a default RSS reader today and you might be fortunate to find an extension or plugin to a browser to subscribe to various channels.

The sites you want to follow might offer their updated information in other formats (most likely an app) which serves their purposes more than yours. Some might offer an api feed which you would need to qualify in some way to access. There is not an existing sitemap update bot that would help unfortunately, but there are services that sell the data.

Another option is to sign up for the sites' newsletters to get the latest updates. Most of those let you opt in (or out) for the information you are interested in.
