How Google search engine work? Which one is right process step by step ?

1) Crawling> indexing> caching > ranking

2) Crawling > Caching > indexing > Ranking

2 is correct in the simplest sense. They do cache the raw page before processing it. However, there are so many steps in the process now, that the old paradigm really doesn't fit. There are so many branches to the 'ranking' algo now, that it is hardly the same code it was just five years ago.
Indexing is obviously an ongoing thing as they tweak the algo.
