I'm trying to understand what this means and is it important. I'm a complete dummy on this. Apologies, please help!

Ownership verification failed
Verification method:
Domain name provider
Failure reason:
We couldn't find your verification token in your domain's TXT records.
We found these DNS TXT records instead:
v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all
Sometimes DNS changes can take a while to appear. Please wait a few hours, then reopen your property in Search Console. If verification fails again, try adding a different DNS TXT record.

Hi Jasper472 and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

That is a message you'll get when Google is unable to Verify ownership of your domain using the method you have selected. Try using a different method because that DNS method is not normally used to create a GSC account for a single domain. Yes, their instructions are quite confusing.

Just look through the options and find one that works for you. You should see an option to either add a meta code tag to your site's header or to simply upload their .html file to your domain.

IF you are actually registering several owned domains on a server to one account and wish to edit your domains' DNS, then follow their instructions for that.
