Everything is in the mix. How worthy each moving part is we can't actually know as g has never revealed how the black box works. Educated guesses suggest that there is some benefit with snippets and structured data ...

Personally have never played there (code clean and specific) and have not seen any ADVERSE effects for not using same. Then again, since I have NOT played there I can't truly know if there is any actual benefit.

Keep in mind that, in addition to the above, rich snippets can make your content stand out in the SERPs, which can lead to higher clicks and user interaction. That, in turn, does influence ranking. So, while structured data does not necessarily have a direct impact on your search position, it does indirectly influence it.
