<TD> background attributes

I want to set a background to a cell, however netscape 4.7 and older doesn't support <TD> background attributes. Does anyone know how I can make this work?

r u sure? I've got 4.78 and it works fine.

Depends what you want to apply. Is it an image or a color. If it's a color and it doesn't work make sure that you have the # sign b4 the Exadecimal numbers ie bgcolor="#FFFFFF"

Hey deltron23,

That's interesting - I've just done a quick test and I can get NN4.74 to display a background image, and objects in the td itself. What code are you using?

<td background="pathTo/image.gif"> is what I tested with.

It's also worth mentioning that bgcolor [w3.org] is a deprecated tag in HTML4.01 and higher. Not sure about background though...

Also, there was a question like yours asked on the W3C list and an answer [lists.w3.org] was supplied that may help you in some way.
