I've never put a newsletter on any of my sites before because I was afraid I'd never be consistent and keep writing and sending them out. But now I'm going to try and hope that I can do it right.
Anyway, I was looking at some free WP plugins for newsletters, which seems ok, but they might be limited in what they can do if in the future I have lots of people sign up for it.
I haven't seen any that mention that you can easily export email addresses from them - I don't know if that is because you can't or that now that is such a basic thing that they don't even mention it as a feature. But if you need to upgrade to something better, that would be important to have.
I've seen some that mention having a double opt-in, which sounds good because I what to consider the legal issues also. Which also makes me think that maybe it would be better to go with a 3rd party hosted solution, which maybe I would need in the future anyway.
Also, would potential advertisers be more likely to trust what you say about how many subscribers you have if you are using a 3rd party solution rather than a script you host yourself?
Ideally I would use something that would be free or pretty cheap for now, but that could be upgraded when needed so I wouldn't have to change software.
Any suggestions for other features that I may not be aware of that I should look for? If we are allowed name specific scripts, etc. here, if you have suggestions that would be appreciated too. Thanks!
