Trying to validate HTML 4 transitional

Why won't this validate...?

Hello folks,

Can't figure out why my page doesn't validate to HTML 4 under a transitional doctype. I get this from the good people at W3C.org:

Line 26, column 29: required attribute "TYPE" not specified (explain...).

2.Line 73, column 90: there is no attribute "HEIGHT" (explain...).

...ellpadding="0" align="center" height="340">

I am new to this validation game but I can't figure these two out. Any help is appreciated.

For problem #1, try:

The second problem is simply that there is no "height" attribute for a table in 4 transitional, so the validator can't recognize it.

Thanks for the reply. I will try your fixit #1. I didn't find the W3C "explain" pages very useful as you can see. I will try to remove the HEIGHT attribute and see if that works too. Can't think of a reason why the W3C would decide that the HEIGHT attribute was not valid coding for a table - but there you go...?

The height attribute was always browser-specific code AFAIK, and never part of the W3C recommendation.

You should be using CSS to set those properties for the table and table data now!
