Best Program for Account Login & Orders Placed - No Payment

Hi all, I'm new here so I hope I'm posting this question in the right area. I've been designing brochure style websites for a while now with html/css and I'm spreading my wings, increaing my prices and taking on new challenges.

A potential client has asked me to quote on a site that includes his account holders logging in online and placing wholesale (food) orders with him and keep track of their accounts etc, but it doesn't need to process any payments.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction of the best program to handle this, that's also relatively user friendly (I don't know javascript/php)? I've been using Zen Cart lately but I don't think it's the right tool in this instance - please correct me if I'm wrong.

I need to get back to him today with a quote, so I'd be really grateful for your responses ASAP... thanks so much!

I don't know of any off-the-shelf software that does this. If you can't find any, you'll likely need to write it from scratch with PHP or Perl. (You can't do it with JavaScript, because JS can't write to the server -- at least not easily.)

I would really look into learning PHP or Perl. It will really take your web development (and your income) to the next level.

Thanks MichaelBluejay for getting back to me so quickly, much appreciated and I agree that expanding my skills is important. I'm definitely more of a designer so the programming/development side does take me a little longer to get my head around, but I'm working on it!

I was doing some exploring on the net and discovered Amember, which may cover what I need for this project, unless anyone has any feedback for or against?

For zen, why not add a purchase order module?

Customer doesn't have to pay anything on order. I believe you can even pre-enter their credentials. Then when you receive order, you can bill them(I'm just assuming they're doing it that way).

It's like have credit terms for most businesses.
