how to setup a local server

not a localhost

Hi All,

with a little knowledge of PHP but would like to setup a local host in my apartment, is that possible and how to get started .

I like Wamp, since it contains the apache server. Otherwise, if you are using xp pro, you can install IIS, you'll need a hack to install it on xp home, and as far as vista, I'm not sure.
But Wamp gives you apache, mysql and phpadmin (with php5) all in one installation, browsable through any computer on the same network, even though the address bar on the host machine says [localhost...]
