my read on this post is you are looking to add a search engine to your website. There are two main ruits to go down. You could opt to use a remotly hosted solution such as Freefind or Google site search. The up-side to this is simplicity, the main downside is loss of control over your site search.

The other option is a search engine that you host on your own site. This gives you total control over every aspect of the search.

Your best bet would be to visit hotscripts.com and browse their archives. There is quite an impressive nubmer of free scripts that would suit your needs.
