Hi everyone this is my first post to this site, I am hoping to get some information/insight as to how to start adsensing. I'm sure it wont start out great but i want to get this going to try and earn some spare money on the side as anything would help in my current situation. I'm totally new to this idea as well as designing and creating websites. Tutorials, past experience or anything to help me with this idea is greatly appreciated. I really need this so i hope you all will help. by the way I'm not sure this is the right place to post this but if it is ok if not do as you see fit.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld WNxERIC! [webmasterworld.com]

I suppose the first question to ask is: do you have a website already? And if so; is it a commercial type website; or one containing content? Finally... does it get visitors?

Well I'm not sure how a free site does with adsensing but currently i have no fully set up site to do this. I thought i should get an understanding of all of this before i went with the site. Also would a free web site work?

If you don't have a formal website yet, you should read and stick to the 21 steps Brett wrote some time ago here [webmasterworld.com...]

Take content very seriously, remember, it is the king. Be patient and eventually you'll find yourself making some decent money from your website.

Frankly, I think that you would be best advised to learn the basics of developing a website before tackling the implementation of AdSense. None of this stuff is easy, and you really, IMO, need to acquire a fundamental foundation in website design and layout, generating and adding content and SEO before AdSense will be of any use to you. There is a forum here for newbies - [webmasterworld.com...] It would be well to begin asking questions there.

Once you have mastered some of the basics, then you can turn your attention to AdSense and how you can begin to generate an income stream from it.

This all takes a lot of time, effort and patience to acquire the skills needed to have any kind of success with AdSense or with website development and internet marketing in general. Much of the stuff of late night TV hype telling you how easy it is to do this is just rubbish.

WNxERIC; free-hosted websites do fine with Adsense, but you need to be aware that you might have ads from your free hosting provider as well which will reduce your earning potential, and it might be against the terms of service from your free hosting provider.

I'm glad that you've been directed to the 21 steps and the new to webmastering sections here; the 21 steps are really valuable when your aim is to develop a website which brings about value by having useful information. I'd advise going back, reading them again, and asking for help on those you don't understand as they are all important concepts.

Thanks for the help everyone. Also @ vince what would be the best free site in your opinion or experience that would allow me to do adsensing with flexible layout making or standard layouts?
