Hi, Everyone. My first post.
Just wanting your brief thoughts really.

Its really easy to get your hands on cheap clones, especially youtube clones. Going for less than $5 on ebay.

I wonder what the point is. If anyone wants to upload & watch general videos then they go to youtube. Everyone knows what youtube is. So why setup a clone? Surely its not going to build up a decent visitor database

An example, I watched <a domain name> on ebay a few months ago. It sold for something around the $600 mark, clearly a very nice profit as it probably cost the seller <$10.

After visiting recently, I dont actually think its had any new videos uploaded, which I think proves the point of why bother with a clone? Why waste $600 on a site that surely hasnt made the owner any money?

Are there actually any good clones out there? If so, how are they worth while?

Thanks for any replies!

I'd say you've pretty much hit the nail on the head, although there could be exceptions: someone wanting to aim videos at a specific audience, for example. If you wanted to do that, buying a youtube clone for $5 could save you a lot of work - assuming the "clone" set-up would allow you to have only the content you want.

Some people will sell whatever other people will buy, whether or not it's actually useful.
