Hello,

Recently launched (3 weeks ago)450 page e-comm site.

Several of the pages have already been indexed.

I would like to remove an external link sitewide (all 450 pages).

If I remove the link and resubmit the site, will I suffer any search engine rank penalties for the indexed pages?

I am not changing any meta tags or content.

Thanks in advance.

Don't resubmit - in fact, don't bother with submitting at all. The major search engines all follow links rather than consider submissions.

Just make your change(s), the search engines will pick up the change on their next crawl.

Slightly off topic: Your question might be answered differently by different people (although essentially everybody will agree with the "don't bother about sumbmissions" point) - do not worry about "will this or that harm my rankings" too much.

It comes down to two things: CONTENT and inbound LINKS. Focus on good content, keep an eye on links that are coming in. Small changes in the pages of the site (even if all of them are affected) might result in small changes in the rankings, but they will be temporary should not distract you from two key issues.

Good luck!
