Hello, I have a new website up. It's been up for five days now. I have been getting almost 1,000 hits per day and growing. However, there are problems!

I designed everything myself, learning everything step-by-step (since June 2007 starting with NO knowledge of anything website related). The site looks great and everything works.

The only problem is something about being HTML compliant or strict interpretation, whatever. The problem is there are errors in my HTML (even though the site LOOKS fine), so Google can or will not index it.

I used Dreamweaver 8 for the project. Is there any program out there that will help me get my code in order without me having to be a super (X)HTML expert) Like something I can run the code through which will flag the errors and fix it?

thanks for any replies!

welcome to WebmasterWorld, x501!
you should try the w3c html validation service [validator.w3.org].
also you should look into the Web Developer 1.1.4 extension for firefox [chrispederick.com].

It's been up for five days now (...) so Google can or will not index it.

Five days is not really sufficient to expect Google to fully index a brand new site. Whilst fixing your HTML is important, don't forget to get some links to the site, to internal pages if possible not just to the home page. Make sure you are using non-Javascript links, and if you are using any server-side scripting language, then be careful about using session IDs. Then Googlebot will index your site... if you give it a bit of time!

I agree, time is definatly a factor. It can take months, not days for a new site to be indexed correctly.

Yep. I made a site back in Feb and it just started getting indexed by Google last month. So that what, 5 months? Patience is the main factor here.
