How does one start a local business directory?
Do most sites buy out directories or start building them until they get popular enough for businesses themselves to start joining?

If you have some purpose for this directory and if it can generate money for you, then you can buy it, but if you are not sure whether it will give u ROI and you have time then you can start building 1 by yourself.
