We have recently transferred our DNS hosting to another supplier. This has meant that now our internal users resolve the local IP for the sites across the LAN.
Our customers quite like the idea using sub domains as a short form of longer URLs so we get about 3 requests a month for a new sub domain.
So far I have updated the web server configuration and have put in a request for the 3rd party to update the network's internal DNS.
They have quoted £1,350 ($2,500) - (4.75 hours) to put 3 sub domains into the local DNS (on a MS network).
Is this reasonable? I thought it would be a fairly simply job?

Do you have a big target painted on your back?
$100 would be pricey, for something that should take no more than 15 minutes to do. $25 would be reasonable.
I'm afraid I don't understand just what the third-party service is doing for you, though? Are they hosting your DNS, or just managing it? Is there some reason your internal IT staff can't handle this simple task? If they are hosting it, why? It makes sense to use a third-party host for external DNS, but internal?
Sorry, but I think you've been "had" - big time!
