I have a serious problem with my netscape mail.

I download all mails via IMAP, so thank god I didn't loose anything. but here is the problem.

Somehow, the netscape program got problems and I uninstalled the program, I have the back-up of my profile, the whole folder.

Its been a pain in the neck to set-up netscape now such that it looks in to my old profile and shows me the things as it was before i uninstalled netscape.

Thank You,
Nehal

what *exactly* is your problem?
you actually haven't asked any question in you post.

it's in fact rather easy to restore a profile if you've started from scratch, but I need to know what you want to have restored in order to give you proper advice and procedure.

I am sorry about that, I thoght I discussed my problem.

Well, here it is....

I have lost my profile settings because I had to uninstall NS 7.01. Everytime I try to copy my old .slt file, it just doesn't work.

how do I restore my profile?

Sorry for the confusion.

OK :-)
!now! I understand your problem :-)

see here - [gemal.dk...] - for information about the different files that Mozilla uses.

Now, it's no use just replacing the new *.slt folder with the old one, as Mozilla actually seems to keep some kind of tab on what it's called. A far better solution is to copy back individual important files from the old folder to the new one.

The important ones - in my opinion are:
Folders:
- Mail
- News
Files:
- abbok.mab
- bookmarks.html
- cookies.txt (!if! you've gotten important login information stored there)
- prefs.js
- [somenumber].s
- [somenumber].w
note, that prefs.js contains information about the *.s & *.w filenames, so if you want to copy the *.s & *.w files over, you'll at least have to either modify the settings in prefs. js or rename the old files to have the same name as the new ones.

But your mailage may vary :-)
Please post again with your results :-) and if you run into further trouble please don't hesitate to ask again

yours in happy hacking :-))
