"Free" photos are very risky nowadays.

I would recommend that you use sites like istock and fotolia where you can buy from a selection of hundreds of thousands of great images for $1.00 a time.

"Royalty free" is not the same as "free." In fact, often times they are very expensive.

The Stock Exchange site that you mention is quite good but it has only a limited number of images compared to the others. There are also conditions attached to most of the images and attribution may be required.

For the sake of $1.00 I find that it is not worth the trouble.

Added: Believe me. I used to spend an hour or two looking for free images before I started using the low cost options. The time this has saved me is incalculable. I have also been able to offer my clients better looking images on their websites.
