work on them consecutively or simultaneously

I have a handful of ideas that I think could work online, some I believe more in than others but I have no way of really knowing plus I'm of course prejudiced due to own tastes and interests.

I realize I will be doing lot more than simply writing content, I will have to learn things about a wide array of technical issues related to hosting, site making and more so even if I work only on one site I will be working on and learning many things.

However like I said I don't know which ideas will find favor with the general websurfing public so I'm wondering if I should plant many small sites and allow them to grow slower rather than just the one growing faster. It might grow in the wrong direction due to my lack of experience.

What is your experience?

Your own tastes and interests are the things about which you will produce the best and most interesting content. That will be what people read. Having identified your topic, research what is already on the web and find a gap that you can fill.

I know that I have experimented with several different designs over the years. I would suggest sticking with one site and one topic until you are up to speed on design and build.

For a new guy its hard enough to do one much less than
trying to do a few! Pick the one you feel best about and give it a go. Never bite off more than you can chew!

Good Luck
