Hi

My boss has purchased a number of domain addresses and wants them all pointing to the same website. I would like to know if this is acceptable or would it get the website banned by Google and the other search engines.

Regards

Steve

That's fine. Use and market only one of the domains. Set a 301 Permanent Redirect on all of the other domains.

In order to do a 301 redirect, the domain would have to be hosted wouldn't it?

Is there something wrong with just pointing the DNS of the non-hosted domains to the desired hosted domain?

Along the same line of thought; If you do have to host the domains to do a 301 redirect, why not just have a single landing page with direct links to the main fully functional web site?

I have one domain that I am building/testing the site before I send it up to the hosting site. But I also have bought/registered about 20 domains that are closely related to my soon to be commercial site.

I was planning on just pointing all the domains DNS to the one site.
Am I thinking wrong?

New here just asking.

Hosting isn't necessary to redirect domains. Your DNS provider or Registrar can often do this for you. Just make sure to use a server header checker to confirm that a 301 redirect is indeed being returned.
