Page rank spread on site has got me beat

Why are minor pages on my site higher ranking than home?

Hi webmeisters, I'm new to this site so excuse me if this is a really dumb question......

My site home page is PR4 but a dozen or so minor pages with hardly any content are PR5. All the inlinks point to the home page.

Any clues why this might be?

Cheers

Page rank, for what it's worth (not much) is about Links. Period.

If you think all links go the home page (I hope you mean domain.com, NOT domain.com/index.html?), then there are links you don't know about. Not unusual.

If deeper pages are doing better than your home page, then they have more or better links, or both. That's all.

Content has zero to do with page rank, nor does much else in the real world. Don't worry about it (Google doesn't).

Thanks Quadrille. Your diagnosis is correct. Hadn't noticed a bunch of unsolicited links pointing at the pages.
