OK, first of all, I'l lcome straight forward and say YES, I'm paranoid.

OK, now with that aside, I webmaster a site for a local club. It's nothing huge, about 20 members, and the sitee pretains to people in this area, that's about it. Nothing worth mentioning on the 6 o clock news etc..

This site also has a forum (phpBB) so the members can communicate easily. Permissions are set up so that anyone can register and post, but only an admin can approve who can post in the member areas. Today, someone registered to the forums. No one knows who this is.

I've Google'd the email address and the only hit I got was to an anarchist (anti-government) site, and the domain for the email address is for a Ukranian news site (this club is in south Florida, USA).

Now, should I really look into this or should I just think someone stumbled upon the site, registered, and that's about it?

I'm not too worried about the site getting hacked, it's backed up locally, and the password will be difficult for even my wife to figure out.

But, should I keep an eye on this, or just ignore it (spam bot etc..)? They've made no posts.

Hi there :)

On many forums and blogs users will just sign up and place a link in their profile with no intention of ever posting. Sometimes you just have to weed out non posters and remove accounts. If you are worried about this one user you may want to think about blokign his ip address from your site.
