I am a newbie who has thrown himself at the deep end!

I set up a website last year which has a unique (non industry or product ) domain name. At the same time I bought lots of industry/generic names domains in order to point at the main domain.

I now wish to point these industry/generic names at the main site. I know that I should use 301s rather than 302 and that using Moniker would be an easier method for redirection than changing the .htaccess file.

My first silly question is do these industry/ generic names take advantage and use my main sites meta description, title and tags for by the search engines? If not, is there any point having these industry/generic domains?

Secondly I have just “rescued” some expiring domains with PR (one has dmoz listings). My intention was to build new content on them without any reference to the old website structure for link exchanges. However I just read another posting here suggesting using them as 301 redirection to my main site. What is the opinion of SEO’s here?

I am confused about the meaning of absolute and relative URLs. Do these refer to the pages on the old sites or pages in my main site?

Thanks
