Hi,

I would like my customers to be able to download a 1 mb illustrated pdf ebook quickly on either mac or pc. Any suggestions on the best way to do this? Should I make it a dmg or just zip it? Zipping it hardly reduced the size at all. DMG seems to be mainly for Mac. I'm a bit confused. I know there is a way to speed up the download. Any advice is appreciated.

On the PDF, what version of Adobe do you have? The newer versions will condense the PDF file a lot more I have seen than the earlier version.

You can adjust your settings in Adobe Acrobat to compress the pdf file more than normal.

My question is this:

Do you have over 50 pages in that ebook?
It sounds like you need to first concentrate on your images to make a smaller pdf file.

Create a pdf without the images & check the size, that will give you an idea of where your adjustments need to be made. Then start working with the output settings

Here are some additional tips from Adobe

Take a look in the File menu - there should be an option for "Reduce file size..."

Sometimes this is a quick and easy way to slim your file down. Sometimes it has nearly no effect. The newer version of Acrobat Reader you demand, the smaller it will get.

Hope that helps...

Do I just put a link from the html page to the pdf file and it automatically downloads or am I missing something? Is there a script or something that facilitates the download?
