A visitor recently emailed me saying that a few of my links are connecting to spyware. I didn't even know about this until now.

I've also noticed that my site is x2 slower than before. Is this related?

Can you please tell me a bit about spyware and what I can do to protect my site.

Thanks in advance.

You could try running a port scan to see if any malware is running on your machine (Google currports for a free utility to assist with this.)

You could also invest in a copy of Spyware Doctor, which helped me when I had a similar problem last year.

If your site (server) is infected with a trojan and installing spyware on your site visitors' computers, you need to take the site offline fast, then move to a new server (probably with a new hosting company) and restore your site from a recent clean backup. You do take regular backups, don't you?

If you have a dedicated server, then you will probably need to reinstall, if you have a shared or managed server then your hosting company is responsible for patching the vulnerabilities which lead to your site being trojaned.

Sorry, I had a senior moment. I was thinking about this a local problem.

Thinks ... must pay attention and read things properly!
