How to find a forgotten password

Okay, so I'm new here, and new to having a website. I'm also quite certain this is the most stupid thing anyone here has ever done/asked...

So, I lost the cookies on my computer and can't remember my login (I'm only 70% sure of what that might be) and the password is forgotten too. Oh, yes, I know I should have written it down or done something remotely intelligent, but I didn't.

Is there anyway to find my password from the coding? i really don't know anything about any of this, but I'm hoping to slowly learn so that I don't have to depend on others to bail me out of these situations!

Thanks so much for any tips or hits as to what direction I should go with this...

Welcome to WebmasterWorld christinasfl,

what password did you lose?

Do you mean your password for uploading files?
or is it your password for access to the control panel of your site?

do you still have the original email from your host?

Yes, it was the password to my entire administration area of the site.

I do still have all the emails from my host. What info should I look for?

Thanks!

yes, contact your host

in the emails I have gotten upon setting up a new host there is oft times password information in there, so I keep them in case I forget.
