I'm considering starting a forum that would target the law student and lawyer demographics. What are the odds of such a forum being profitable assuming I can get the ball rolling with a decent, active member base?

It's all a numbers game. Any niche can be profitale if you drive enough page views and visitors. The hardest part of running any forum is getting the actual mebers in place. Once you have an active list of users your forum should be able to stand up and move along.
