I need to add a help or faq page to my intranet, and I was wondering if there is any software out there designed specifically for that task?

Yes there are some web based alternatives often called something like FAQ Management Software, just google it to come up with alternatives. They often cost and my guess is that they are for really large FAQs.
Some content management systems have the function built in (both Mambo and Joomola I think).
Hope it shed some light on the issue.

Ah! thanks for the googling tip - I had been googling for "help" and "faq" which wasn't much, ahhh... help, if you get my drift. :-)
