HEllo Friends,

I want to know- How exactly Podcasting work?
Anyone having experience with it.

I want to know if we need special modifications on server side?
Any modifications / new device altogether to recieve?
Any benefits for using it as a SEM tool?

Thanks for your Time.

There are quite a few pieces of free software that assist in setting up podcasts. The basics of a podcast are as follows...

.A server to host your music files (usualy MP3 files)

.An XML style file to specify your file locations.

Generaly your files do not have to be stored on the same server although this is up to you.

The actual podcast that the user downloads is the xml format file. This will contain the music information and where to download it from. The users podcast application iPod, iTunes etc will then download the source files and periodicaly check for updates made to the xml file. When ever new content is added to the file, the system will then download the new media from the web.

Hope this helps.
