A landing page is a term used to refer to a page designed as an entry point for various advertising types. A good example would be if you are using a pay per click search engine to drive you traffic and build a specific page for receiving the traffic. The landng page could be a page designed to convert well, this would work better than simple refering the ppc clicks to your homepage.
