I'm working with technical equipment in Scandinavia, and as an old engineer I have to admit that web design is not my main bussiness.
My site was established in 2004 and has grown in terms of pages.
Last 2 years I started to read this forum and today I'm visiting nearly every day. Based on the information on what to do and not to do I have done some changes through these 2 years.

The problem is now that I'm at first possition for some of my pages, which I've heard could mean problem at next upddate. These pages are primary technical descriptions how to solve spesific problems. But I also got high ranking for some of the products I'm selling (#3-#10).TPR is 4.
There is no copies as most is something I make myself, but some products is also based on other companies I represent (but pages are made from the bottom in pure html).

Last year my page was listet in Dmoz, and I have done my best to not make any problems for myself and Google. All pages has klimbed slowly from page #6-8 and up to page #1 within 18 month. Numbers of visitors that comes back to my site has also grown.

Question is if I should try to cancel my Dmoz listing? Last 3 month the server was locked with 403 replay. I'm afraid that my page disapears totaly as for so many others if I stay as high as today.
Pls advise.

It's not much to tell actually. I'm a newbie that has made the page on standard HTML.
When I started up with the 4 pagers I made first I tried to make it delicate to readers. Slowly over last 2 years I have made a lot of content that I have found nowhere else (at least not that much info on for each topic).
For the products I'm selling I have a few competitors above me for some singel words. But at least one is cheating, another I can't tell for sure. In those cases I have more competitors than 2-3 above me they have huge sites compared to mine so I accept that.

It seems to me that some people in this forum are hit hard, more or less randomly, and send out to space by Google. This is something I want to prevent.
But it seems that Google are switching on and of filters, and their restrictions are changing more or less every week. It's probably better for me to be at page #2-3 than at page #1 for one month and disapearing. But as long as I can't see anything wrong with my pages it's difficult to remove pages or part of pages.

Hey Extra, you sound like you'll be able to handle whatever the SE's decide to do,

I doubt that even the most expert chaps here know whats gonna happen tomorrow,,

One consistent requirement is Unique content, yours is so unique,, you make it yourself!

Thanks vite_rts.

But I know for sure I'm a newbie when reading all this words you PRO's are using (and which I can't find in the glosary at the top).
Through the last 2 years I have read many pages in this forum, and slowly understand what you all are talking about. But I admit I still have far to go. But i think it's the same for most of the people that tries to learn.

Anyway, I also understand people are not agree about everything, Maybe because no one really understand all about Goggle ranking, as well as Google are changing their filters and new filters are comming very year.

Making good websites is not the same as learing to use a biscycle. People change, technology change more, but most of all SE change.
This means I have to stay in forums like this if I should have some possibilities to keep a accepatble ranking. And I will.

Thanks for positive feedback

being #1 won't cause you any problems.
don't worry about that.
just make sure that no one copies your content. and if they do, file a DMCA. there have been several threads about that in the Content forum.
