I've tried to understand the info on the Google site about downloading and implementing the Sitemap Generator, but I'm afraid it's just over my head. Is there any easy way to create a Google sitemap?

I recently deleted most of my existing plain html sitemap because it was just getting too large and unwieldy, and I'm not sure I even know enough about the proper structure or format for sitemaps to create an effective one. I just have sort of a basic site outline on my sitemap page for now, until I figure out what to do.

Should you list every last one of your pages? It was getting really tedious to keep listing new pages as I created them.

Downlod a free sitemap program, or use a free one from the net.

Be careful about making duplicate entries, so scan it before you upload it.

You can buy sitemap generators, I have one, and think its worth it.

You might check out w w w.a u d i t m y p c .c o m /free-sitemap-generator.asp (sorry that was the only way I could not make it directly link to their site)

Thank you so much to both of you. I have checked out alternate sitemap generators on the Web in the past, but wasn't sure which would be effective or simple (or safe) to use.

Why don't you go back to HTML sitemaps? I keep track of my pages and found it very spider-friendly; SE like what users might dislike: a plain, solid HTML site with 1990ies-look. I update my sitemaps manually and spiders crawl happily to new places.

I actually have gone back to my HTML sitemap for now, but as my site grows, I'm finding it a bit of a pain to maintain. It's also getting much too large for one page, as I'm still not sure if I should be listing each and every page on my site -- so I've been doing just that to play it safe.
