I'm setting up a social network and would like to know the best way to configure subdomains for user generated profiles. Do SERPs distinquish one over the other?
Ex A: www.widget.com/username
or
Ex B: www.username.widget.com Thanks!

Search engines treat subdomains more like seperate domains. If you create the user profile as sub-directories, the link popularity to the user profiles will help your site more than if they were subdomains.
Also make sure to keep on eye on people possibly abusing your user profiles for SEO reasons. It is not fun to have your site banned because of it.
