I can understand that asking people to view your new website is a form of promotion but never the less there are many people here who could offer good advise for some one like me.

so do you have an area where you can throw your efforts to the wolves - see if they digest it or just chew it up and spit it out?

cheers

Roy

No, sorry,we don't. With the huge number of promoters and marketers as members here, we just can't see a way to offer this and make it work. For some insight into the size of the issue, check out this thread:

No I fully understand the reasons - seems a shame for a number of reasons though - experts advising newbies and the very fact that it would be popular so you don't provide it seems you know wrong.

but I do understand.

Hi nomax5 and welcome to WebmasterWorld :)

As tedster pointed out we cant allow site reviews. In an ideal world we would, but in reality if we did it would be extremely abused.

What we can do is offer help and advice wherever possible. If you have a problems or issues with your site feel free to ask away and someone will be more than happy to help out.

What we try to do is keep out discussions as general as possible. This means they will be of use to many more readers in the future. If people ask questions that are very specific to their own site then they will be of little use to other users.

Good example: How do I promote a site
Bad example: How do I promote wwww.example.com

Glad to have you with us and hope to see you around.

Mack.

You have to be your own worst critic to get something that really does the job....;)

I've been lurking on webmasterworld for a while, but joined only a year ago, and started posting just very recently. I have to admit that the very nature of this site is intimidating. It's HUGE, full of web geniuses, no friendly graphics of any kind, and a little difficult to use. It's a bit like walking into a gothic cathedral!

I saw a statistic that 94% of the emails in July 2005 were spam. It seems like the spammers are winning, especially if the rest of us have to severely curtail our use of the web because of them. I REALLY wish we could figure out a solution.

Somebody boasts, "I built the greatest website in the world, and only used blah blah blah." It'd be nice to be able to take a look to see if it's any good or not.

I'll go read that 14-page thread now.

If you click on "control panel" at the top of the page there is a link that allows you to "Edit Skin" this will allow you to alter the sites apperance.
