I have been analysing my web pages and using a frees seo web tool it tells me that 'Forum' is a poison key word. Is this the case and shoudl I remove it? Regards as ever John.

Well, is it a forum? If it is, I wouldn't worry about it. You'll just get flagged (eventually) for trying to game the system.

Well, we certainly use the word enough around here and our rankings are pretty decent.

It depends what your search terms are, if people are looking for 'forums' then it seems a good idea to use it, how can it be a 'bad' keyword?
Since when do keywords have a negative ranking? They are merely terms in a a db of a search engine.

Back when search engines were doing little more than text match, there was a lot of talk that certain keywords were poison: "links" was a big one. But whether it was ever true or not, it surely isn't now.

I wouldn't say it's a poison word, although it may cause problems if you aren't able to rank for a term that Google thinks your site is related to. The key is to try and get your content as close to the actual topic of your site as possible. If you run a forum then using the words {topic forum} cant be all together a bad thing.
